Therapy Contract

Video Recording

Please note that all therapy sessions are recorded. Video recording of sessions is one way of reviewing and enhancing my work with you; it allows me to tailor your sessions more effectively, particularly when reviewed in clinical supervision with my supervisor. Recordings are securely stored and deleted six months after the final session.

Cancellations

You can cancel anytime up to 24 hours in advance with no charge. However, cancellations made less than 24 hours before your appointment and non-attendance of sessions with no notice given will be charged the full fee.

Drugs, Alcohol and Gambling

Please note that Anthony Hill Therapy does not offer a drug, alcohol or gambling service. If you are concerned about drugs, alcohol or gambling, please seek support from a specialist service in your area. You can find more information at the NHS website: https://www.nhs.uk/

Confidentiality

Everything you say in a session is confidential and will not be discussed outside of therapy without your prior permission except under exceptional circumstances. Examples include supervision, the requirements of a court of law, or the threat of severe physical harm to you or others. If I need to consider breaching confidentiality, I will discuss this with you before taking further action, if possible.

Contact With G.P.

Under exceptional circumstances (please see the examples above), I may need to share information with your G.P. Where possible, I will discuss this with you first. During your Assessment, please provide your G.P.’s contact details.

Supervision

The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), of which I am a member, requires that all psychotherapists undertake regular supervision with a professionally qualified supervisor. This is to ensure safe, professional practice. This means that I may discuss your case with my supervisor. In this instance, confidentiality is held between the supervisor and me.

Insurance

I hold professional liability and personal indemnity insurance. Copies of these documents can be made available to you upon request.

Communication

I recommend keeping communication outside of sessions to a minimum. I suggest including as little personal information as possible if email communication is necessary. Please note that there may be a pro-rata charge for communicating outside of sessions.

Notes

I usually keep brief notes after assessments and sessions, which are securely stored. Please refer to my Privacy Policy for further information about how and why I store your data.

Further Support

If you need further support between sessions, please contact your G.P. to discuss what additional support may be available to you. Please visit your nearest hospital Accident and Emergency department in an emergency or dial 999. The Samaritans offer another source of free telephone support. They can be contacted 24 hours daily at 116 123 or www.samaritans.org.

Ending

When considering ending your therapy, please discuss this with me. I recommend at least two or more sessions at the end of treatment so that the work may be reviewed and the significance of the ending explored.

Ethics and Complaints

UKCP-registered psychotherapists are required to abide by the UKCP Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct. You can view a copy of this document online here or ask me for a printed version. If you have any complaints about my work, please feel free to either address these with me or the UKCP. The UKCP can be contacted by telephone at 020 7014 9955 or via their website: www.psychotherapy.org.uk. Further information about the UKCP complaints process can also be found online at https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/ukcp- members/complaints/
